A Commitment to Dental Implants, Continuing Education, and Teaching

As a periodontist specializing in dental implants, I am continually striving to improve my skills and knowledge to offer the best possible care to my patients. With that in mind, I am proud to be a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and would like to share the details of this prestigious title.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the ITI, it is a leading global network of dental implantology professionals dedicated to advancing the field through research, education, and collaboration. Founded in 1980 by a group of prominent Swiss dental professionals, the ITI’s mission is to promote evidence-based knowledge and best practices in implant dentistry for the benefit of patients worldwide.

While being a Fellow of the ITI is not a board certification, it signifies a profound commitment to dental implants, continuing education, and teaching. The process to become a Fellow is rigorous, demanding a high level of proficiency, skill, and expertise in the field of dental implantology.

To become an ITI Fellow, a dental professional must first be nominated by two existing ITI Fellows who can vouch for the candidate’s excellence in implant dentistry. This in itself is an honor, as it reflects recognition by one’s peers for outstanding contributions to the field.
The candidate then undergoes a stringent evaluation process by the ITI, which assesses their professional and educational background, research, clinical practice, and teaching experience. This assessment ensures that ITI Fellows have an extensive understanding of dental implants, a dedication to continuing education, and a passion for sharing their knowledge with others.

As an ITI Fellow, I am committed to staying current with the latest research, innovations, and advancements in dental implantology. This involves participating in ITI’s comprehensive educational programs, which are designed to deepen and expand our understanding of implant dentistry and included studying at the University of Bern Department of Periodontology, Bern, Switzerland.

Additionally, I will be actively involved in ITI’s mentoring program, which pairs experienced ITI Fellows with less experienced dental professionals. This collaborative environment promotes knowledge sharing and allows me to help guide and support the next generation of implantology experts.

Furthermore, ITI Fellows regularly contribute to the field by conducting research, publishing articles, and presenting their findings at professional conferences. I am excited to play a part in these activities, which are essential to the ongoing development and growth of dental implantology as a whole.

In my practice, my ITI Fellowship will translate into more effective, evidence-based treatments for my patients. My commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in implant dentistry will ensure that my patients receive the highest quality care possible. I also believe that my ITI Fellowship will strengthen my ability to teach and share knowledge with other dental professionals. As a periodontist, I have a unique understanding of the complex relationship between dental implants and the surrounding soft and hard tissues. By sharing my expertise with other dentists, I can help to raise the standard of care for dental implant patients everywhere.

Finally, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with fellow ITI members from around the world. This international network of experts enables the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and best practices in implant dentistry. As a result, I am better equipped to provide cutting-edge care to my patients and to contribute meaningfully to the future of the field.

In conclusion, my Fellowship with the International Team for Implantology signifies my unwavering commitment to excellence in dental implantology, ongoing education, and knowledge sharing. I am honored to be part of this prestigious organization and look forward to leveraging my Fellowship to improve the lives of my patients and advance the field of dental implantology.
